Tutoring: Literacy Clinic

Hi Parents,

We have a limited number of brand new unopened sets of Primary Phonics books, from Educators Publishing Service, available to purchase. These sets are widely used for our tutoring, and are the Set 1A (alternate) version to our introductory reading books, so they make a great supplement to the readings your student will do in tutoring sessions. Please visit our information page for more information and to purchase your own brand-new 10-book set.

Line Dividers

The Blosser Center uses the Orton-Gillingham approach, which is phonics-based and multi-sensory.

Tutors and students meet at least twice a week for 45-60 minute sessions. These are one-one-one, giving the student the tutor’s undivided attention.  On average, it takes approximately 2-3 years to complete the sequence and return to grade level.

Effective September 1, tutoring services are $80 per session. We offer three options for payment: full school year (September through May), by semester, and monthly.

We offer a scholarship for families needing assistance with the cost of tutoring. Scholarship funds will be available starting September 1. To apply, please visit: https://forms.gle/ppES5wFjeDpNoF2G7

New Students

We require a full academic and cognitive testing suite for each incoming student. This allows us to evaluate the student’s strengths and weaknesses in skills, memory, and processing. Please see our List of Recommended Educational Testers. Comprehensive educational and cognitive testing may also be available through your school district.

An intake examination must be performed by The Blosser Center before a student begins receiving tutoring. The fee for the intake screening is $175.00. This fee is not refundable if you decide not to continue with tutoring after the intake, as it includes administrative and other costs of conducting the intake.

Students who start school-year tutoring after attending Summer Camp may not need a full intake consultation, since Summer Camp includes part of the intake screening. A Registration Fee of $50 will be charged for administrative costs associated with this transition.
