Recorded webinar: Living with Slow Processing Speed: The Impact on Home, School, and Social Life

Webinar Archive

How does slow processing speed affect children across their school years and beyond? What can parents, teachers, and educational therapists do to help?

Slow processing speed impacts every aspect of a child’s life. Furthermore, managing a child with slow processing speed at school and at home can be challenging for teachers and parents.

Utilizing the latest research and a case study that follows a child with slow processing speed across multiple developmental stages, Dr. Ellen Braaten will describe the academic, social, and emotional challenges faced by these children as they navigate the world of home, school, and community.

From the first evaluation, to school accommodations, to the effect on family and social relationships, the webinar will explore the most common difficulties these children face in the home, in social relationships, and with school functioning. Using real-life examples, this webinar will give you insight into the challenges these children face as well as ideas on how to help.

Learning Enhancement Corporation: Neuroscience in Education Webinar Series

Recorded webinar: The Neuroscience of Stress and Learning

Cognitive Skills and Differentiation | MyBrainWare

FREE!

Parents and educators are confronted on a daily basis with issues related to stress – sometimes their own stress and that of their colleagues – and increasingly the chronic or acute stress of their children and students. The traumatic events that have affected so many communities this year, including hurricanes and fires and violence, have resulted in heightened awareness of the stressful impact of trauma; and science has started to shed light on the devastating effects of chronic stress that many children and adults experience. We mostly think of the negative aspects of stress, but some amount of stress is inevitable and sometimes even beneficial. In this webinar, Dr. Lou Whitaker, President of Open Minds Enterprises, will discuss the neuroscience of stress, the effect of stress on learning and development, and tools and strategies for helping our students and ourselves deal with stress, both acute and chronic.

Recorded webinar: Fostering a Growth Mindset: In Your Students and Yourself

Fostering a Growth MIndset | MyBrainWare

FREE!

Much has been written about the concept of a Growth Mindset, based on the seminal work of Dr. Carol Dweck at Stanford. The research is clear. Individuals with a growth mindset – that is, who believe that intelligence and talent can be developed – do better than those who think that talent is innate and that intelligence doesn’t change much.  The concept is deceptively simple and doesn’t provide everything we need to change our own mindsets and foster a Growth Mindset in our students and children and within our organizations. This webinar explores how to model a Growth Mindset; how to foster a Growth MIndset with students, children and others; strategies for increasing intelligence; and what it really means to praise the effort and not the outcome.
